Default Things I learned New Year's Day.

1) When fording a stream, underwater rocks will cut right through the sidewall of 32" tires.

2) the Jack that came with the Jeep does nothing when you have 4" of lift.

3) the old worn out spare that the dealer left on the back will cause death wobble above 45mph if it is not balanced properly.

4) puncturing a sidewall and having an old worn out spare gives you a valid reason to finally get 35s!!!!!

At least number 4 has a happy ending. I hope all goes well with your search for 35's. Hopefully I will be following suit soon.

The jack should still work with 32's when placed under the axle tube, the amount of lift will not affect the axle to ground distance.

Doh! I didn't think about putting it under the axle. I just found a large flat rock to out under the jack.

Check out the AEV jack base. It gives you a few extra inches and fits in the rear cubby nicely. Sounds like it was a fun trip!

That spare tire is where it's at, man. It's such a b*tch to shell out for a matching tire and wheel for your spare when you go to upgrade, but it's worth it in spades when you need it on a trail.

Sounds like an adventure! Definitely get something with a stiffer sidewall on your next purchase.

My next tires will be the new Toyo Open Country AT2s. They go on Friday :-).

Yea a chunk of 4x4 wood would do the trick too. I'm certainly not relying on a rock to help jack up my Jeep though. Of all the thousands you spend to build up a rig to rely on a rock...doesn't make sense to me.

I ended up using a large flat rock. It worked.
