Default Tinted lenses

Well I used the Rustoleum lense tint in smoked black on my front marker lights and it worked a little too well. I guess I put too many coats on because they look great in the daytime but they're so dark that the light barely shines through at night. So......do I just replace them? OR do I try to buy LED high intensity bulbs from Recon to compensate?

Take them out and take the paint off with paint thiner. It will work really well. Next got get some VHT (what most people use) and try agian. Use a scotch-bright pad to sand them a little. Then wash with soap and water. Let them dry completely and then spray 3 very thin coats all about 5-10 min apart. The trick is thin coats. VHT should go on pretty easily and smooth. Prep is key. Go slow. If needed just do 2 coats and darken later. Also I would suggest 3 coats of clear coat as well. I did to my lights and have had great results.. Good luck!

I'll try that first, I figured the Rustoleum was pretty comparable to VHT but apparently not. Thanks for the tips.

I just smoked my factory tail lights and the Bushwacker led marker lights on the front fenders with Rust-Oleum Lens Tint. Came out very good. The lights seem to look very dark when not in use but still let a very good amount of light through. It has only been done 2 days so far and no issues that i can see. I sprayed 2 coats on all the lights. I don't know about the VHT but the Rust-Oleum went on easy and dark. But like I said light coming through seems good.

I love tinted headlights but when I did it on my f150 I could not see hardly anything at night, one might when it was storming with tornados and stuff Idk how I made it home cause I couldn't see anything so the next day I sanded the nightshades off. The jk lights already suck I don't see how you would be able to see anything with them tinted
