Tire Carrier Dilemma

Well I ended up with the TF relocation bracket. Once I mounted my 35x12.50R17 BFG on stock Moab rim, I realized I would definitely need longer bump stops. I got the Daystars in this week and mounted them today. They barely make contact with the tire. What's next? I've considered carrying my spare on my Congo Cage but I think my five tire rotation would become a pain in the but. I have looked at the new TeraFlex carrier and others but they seem expensive for what they are. I've also considered changing the rear bumper to something like the Poison Spyder Brawler, as it accommodates a 35" tire on the stock carrier but I wonder if my Congo Cage would look weird where the rear bracket meets the frame. I'm about to go crazy. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well I am still running a 35 on the stock carrier for 2 years now and still no issues. Just saying....maybe I have been lucky

Ya might try making your own. there are several carriers that have the drop down feature like the carrier in the "how do ya like this idea" thread. this would help on your 5 tire rotation.
It took me several days to make this one, along with the bumper, but it is totally do-able. I bet if you let a weld shop see this video, they could build it and probably improve on it a lot. Any way the fold down really helps when putting the tire back on the rack. But hey I am a little guys, So if your 6' 200, it may not be an issue for ya. Food for thought if nothing else. I hope it helps.

Thanks Papa. BTW I'm 5'10" and about 200lbs. I don't have a lot of trouble getting it on the tailgate. I was considering puting it on my roof rack but I don't think I'd ever take it down.

I'm beginning to think that would have been a better option. Is it 1.5"? The relocation bracket moves it 2". I believe that's why the bumpstops won't reach. Thanks man.

Actually mine is a bracket spacer as well. Moves it up and out, but the bump stops reach on mine and keep it tight
