They will last as long as you can stand them. How your gears hold up isn't an issue. Need more info...3.8 or 3.6, auto or manual?

I have been driving with 35s and 3.21s for quite some time and I have the 3.8. Like said before, it doesn't have to do with how long the gears last, it has to do with how long you can put up with driving it that way. Most people hate running 35s and 3.21s because it turns the jeep into a dog but if you can stomach the low torque and poor gas milage for awhile, then no worries.

I would continue to drive with the 3.21s and 35s if it wasn't for wanting better off-road performance. I don't mind it too much on-road, and even off-road it isn't like I just want to rip my hair out. But I know re-gearing will make me a much happier person.

It's really not about gearing, you might want a Procal or some other chip programmer to tell the Jeep your new tire size, later when you regear you will use the Procal to change that as well.

things to consider not in order, replacing factory spare tire carrier, driveshafts, axles, re-gearing to 4:10 or so.
