Default Tire wear

I am currently running Nitto Terra Grappler 295/70R17 tires on my 2010 JKU Rubicon with a 2.5 RK Max Travel lift....currently the tires are 4 years old with about 25,000 miles on them, they are showing slightly less than 1/2 of the original tread left (7/32 vs 16/32) while I am not concerned with them off road, as I live in the mountains of western NC, the roads up here are typically wet, my concern is that at what point of the remaining tread depth is the performance on paved roads compromised and by how much, to be a safety concern as to want to replace the tires??? FWIW I have been very pleased with the overall performance of these tires, just sayin.
