I think with more tire height and width the wheels wouldnt be nearly as beat up as they are. I also believe that the reason Jeep went with 17 and 18 inch wheels on stock vehicles is they are better handling on road, not because they are in any way better off road, especially with the iddy biddy stock rubber. Just because a manufacturer does something doesnt mean its the best way to do it. If Jeep really wanted to do it right they would have put 3" of lift, 35's, reinforced the C's and sleeved the axles, and geared my Rubi correctly right from the factory. Not that a stock Jeep isnt capable of a lot but they can be so much more with not a whole lot of mods that I think should have been built into the original design.

I am in agreement that most stock vehicles are far from perfect. But they do meet DOT standards, and those of the engineers as per specs set forth by another panel of people looking to maximize profits rather than performance. Now with that said, I would say that today’s JK’s have WAY too much body role at highway speeds as it is. I want the benefit of 35’s off road without adding any more body role on road through sidewall flex. So it is that happy compromise I’m going for.

I did read all the tire tech this forum has hoping to find the answer before posting, but I did not search for past postings.

Default ... along the same lines

I'd like to put the fattest possible BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires on 17x9 PRO COMP Series 7069 wheels that have 4.75" backspacing. I have a stock JK Sport S and will not trim plastic or steel to accommodate the new tires and wheels. Any guidance on maximum width that I can install WITHOUT RUBBING? Thanks!
