Default Tires tires tires

I am looking at tires and I just can't believe how expensive they are. Found these re-treads online. Anybody running retreads? Think it's a foolish buy?

I have actually heard good things about the retreads, only downside is they only seem to be available in smaller sizes.

I don't know if it's a negative consideration or not, but from the little I've read on retreads, they use different tire carcasses for them. So even though you get 4 new tires of the same tread pattern, you may have 1 retreaded BFG, 1 Kumho, 1 Cooper, 1 Toyo, etc.

If they all now have the same tread pattern, will they all drive/act the same? Or would the Toyo still be thicker/heavier, and maybe need a different tire pressure to give the same footprint as the others?

Nope, because I'm not retreaded.

So if I buy the 285/70/r17's and install on stock wheels with a 3" lift will they rub? I believe it's 33.3" high and 11.5" wide.
