Default tpms sensors

im getting new rims and tires tmrw and the guy told me that i would have to spend 300$ to get sensors that arent even going to do anything but turn my low tire pressure light off on the dash? if he doesnt put them in he said the light will just come on. is there anyway of turning this light off without those sensors being put in??

The AEV ProCal and Superchips Flashpaq can turn it off.

Why aren't you re-using your old sensors?

Absolutely true. But...

It is just a matter of unbolting and bolting back on but any time the tire is broken off of the bead the dealer or installer is supposed to install a TPMS Service Kit. This "kit" consists of a replacement O-Ring, valve core, valve cap and retaining nut. Find TPMS part number 20030. The kits cost $4 or $5 per tire.

Discount Tire moved them from my stock to my new ones for free. I'd go to another dealer if they want to charge you.

Tire Kingdom moved mine over for Free. I also used the Superchips Flashpaq to lower the PSL.

i can see why a shop would charge extra, after they have to dismount the old wheels and tires to take the sensor out and then reinstall it into the new wheel.

i just said f-it, i can deal with a little light and i didnt want to disassemble my stock wheels and tires incase i ever need to put them back on

Unscrew bolt and remove it, bolt it back up for re-install... Think it's a 10-13mm nut... I don't think the bead has anything to do with the sensor. It cups right into the lip of the rim and does not get banged around... IMO, spend the $$ on Mcdonalds instead of the "tune up kit"...

My local tire shop did mine for FREE. I trailered down my new wheel/tires and watched them remove them from my Jeep and install them on the new wheels. They did have to break the bead to get to them but it was something they did with the old tires still on the Jeep and certainly didn't tell me I needed new sensors or any kind of kit.. Just do it yourself or go to a more friendly shop.
