Default Traction Control in Low Range

The question:

Anyone know how to make the truck think I'm in high range when I'm really in low???

I have an X model. So I have open diffs right now. I went into a mud pit about to the point where the jeep was up to the center of my wheels deep in mud. Just for fun, after watching a 06 TJ with 2" lift and 32" mud tires spin and rev his way almost to the end and get stuck, I decided to try 4Hi range and set the ESP(traction control) to the half off position. This gives me about a 4500rpm rev limit for spinning the tires. Works great in deep snow. I hit the skinny pedel to the floor... and off I went. The tires didn't really spin much. There wasn't much mud flying. Kinda booring looking really....lol.. anywho... I made it almost all the way through and then just ran out of power. The brakes were fighting me too much. So, I want to try to keep the trac control in low range. But, the jeep shuts it off.

That is the locker mod correct? I don't have the lockers. So I shouldn't have those rellays. I'm looking for the wire that tells the computer that the truck is in high or low range. I want to be able to Enable the ESP in Low range.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you want. Here's the deal: In HI range you have ESP active or partially off. In Low range ESP is off, but the BLD feature (What you are referring to as "traction control") is still active. Which combination are you wanting to use? I agree with you that there are times when the Jeep just clamps down on the brakes or limits the throttle, holding the power back. I don't really know what the solution is other than lockers and lower gears.

the esp full off in low range disables the traction control. I just want to try fooling the truck into thinking its in high when it's in low. See how that traction control works on the trail in low range.

I'm not sure why you would want traction control in low range....you wouldn't be going fast enough to need it. The Brake Lock Differential still works as mentioned above...meaning power will still transfer from one side of the axle to the other when needed. The traction control would just apply the brakes and screw you up when you're trying to do something.

I didn't notice any break locking differential when I was in low range in the mud after I put it in Low Range. I was under the impression that all of the electronic traction devices were disabled in low range.

you will not notice the BLD in the mud because of simple math.....ZERO traction is ZERO traction no matter how many wheels you have.....a 6x6 5 ton military vehicle that is in the mud still has ZERO traction...... for the BLD to work and WORK it does very well.... you need SOME traction on atleast one wheel. And if you are not too careful there is something reffered to as "ice mode" on very slippery surfaces the BLD goes ballistic...happened to me in Virginia climbing a very steep hill made of virginia red clay....even after i stopped the Jeep at the top the ABS was still active for 30-45 seconds. But back to the mud.....lots of Hp and BIG tires only answer. BLD was designe for "plowable surfaces, but not DEEP mud.

BLD is active in 4-LO. As mentioned if you have absolutely no traction it won't matter though.
