Traction control question
So I have finally got around to spending the money on a re-gearing of my JKU ( WOW! what a nice difference).
I had installed Detroit truetracs as well during the regear. The guy I used does the work part time so we did the rear end first and everything went very smoothly. The following week we did the front, again everything went smoothly.
As I drove it around after the front was done I noticed my traction control light coming on and chiming but I didnt feel anything happen, few minutes later it went off. The next day it went on and then off again and then back on, now it has been on for several days straight. The only thing I noticed was that my Jeep did pull to the left a bit after the regear of the front end. Could this be the truetracs causing the traction control to malfunction or something? Should I rotate my tires? Maybe alignment? Or should I just disable the system altogether? Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Have you reprogrammed your computer for the gear change yet? With all the electronics in these things, you need to make sure that thing is on point with your changes or it will freak out, despite what tranny you are running. I lifted mine recently, and because my steering wheel wasn't straight, the computer would engage my brakes on one wheel because it thought I was in a slide instead of just going down the road with a crooked wheel. I quick adjustment and I was back in business. Pick up a procal and set the gear ratio in the computer and I bet you will be good as new. (or better)
Regeared and front/rear True Tracs about 3 months ago, haven't had any issues with them tripping the traction control or pulling.
Did you check the sensors up front to insure that the wires didn't get damaged during the install?

You wouldn't think so, but I can't say for sure. I have a 6 speed also, but haven't changed my gears yet. I know there are no shift points to adjust. This is just a guess, but could the Jeep be sensing that the wheels are turning faster/slower than they "should" be and tripping the traction control light? That's what is coming to mind. Maybe that could be handled by the tire size recalibration, but maybe the gearing has a hand in that factor as well. Just an idea.

I wonder if it's pulling a little because it's applying brakes to a wheel or is the light just on with no action being taken by the system itself? I'm not quite sure how the system works in general.

Remember that everything on the JK goes through the computer. Changing the gears changes the RPM for any specific speed, thus confusing the computer. There are a lot of sensors and information that come from the axles and transfer case. If the gears and tire size are not calibrated correctly in the PCM it can cause all kinds of gremlins with the traction control with or without the manual trans. I have the 6spd as well and getting all the calibrations right fixed all the issues.
