Transmission Temp with B&M Cooler
The wife and I took a few days off this week to make a run over to Moab for a couple of days of fun.
I recently installed an Aeroforce gauge and set it to constantly display coolant and trans temp.
I ran it from I 70 at 470 (around Golden) all the way up to the Eisenhower Tunnel at the speed limit, mostly 65.
From Golden to Chief Hosa exit the trans ran up to 180 degrees and the coolant ran up to 224. I ran it in Drive 2 all the way up.
From Chief Hosa to the tunnel it cooled off a bit but at the tunnel the trans peaked at 189. There was a strong headwind all the way up. In fact it was so strong that on the west side of the tunnel I had to hold on a little power to keep it at 65 going down hill!!
On the trail the trans would never get over 160 and normally ran around 140 to 150. Coolant ran close to 200 plus or minus a few degrees. The outside temp was usually around 55 to 60.
Just running down a level freeway around 65 to 70 the trans runs about 120. I completely spaced observing the temps with the ac on vs off. Next time!
June 6 - Ran up 70 from Golden all the way over Loveland Pass. Outside at Golden was 68 degrees, at the top of the pass it was 60 degrees. Same deal, mostly 65 in D2 all the way up except for Loveland Pass. Coolant got up to 220. The trans temp slowly climbed and peaked right at the top of Loveland pass at 200 degrees for a few seconds. I am running 3.73 gears and have 33" tires on it now. AC was on all the way.

Interesting info. Looking forward to the AC on/off temps. I'll start compiling the same temp data on my end the next longer trip; and then we can compare. Thus far; it seems I generally run hotter on the trail than on hwy; which I would expect, as I'm pushing more drivetrain off road.
Post em here! I will be real interested to see what they get to this summer when it gets up around 100 outside. I ran it over Vail Pass coming back the same way but it was much cooler out, around 35 degrees so the trans never got over 150.
I believe that the Aeroforce just takes a passive signal from the OBD2 port. You can program a few things with the Aeroforce. There are lots of posts here about them. Easy install, literally 30 minutes including drilling a hole between the center air outlets.
