Trouble With XRC

Default Trouble With XRC

I just put on my new Smitybilt XRC rear bumper and now i cant open my tailgate. is there an easy / cheap fix? its sitting at an up angle towards the back of the jeep

I think you may have installed it wrong, no reason this should be happening. If your tailgate is just 'rubbing' on the bumper then make sure you bore out your bolt holes with a 1/2" bit like the directions state.

i installed it per the directions and it is still rubbing.

Have you tried loosening all the bolts and pushing down on the bumper yet? It might take a little persuasion with a block of wood and a small sledge.

Ii got it to work. just had to use some rubber washers from lowes to give me about 1/4'' body lift.

Call Ray Anamos at Smitty. (Not sure spelling on the last name.) They do stand behind their products. You might have gotten the one bumper that slipped in the builders jig. He may ask you to take some measurements. If you determine the measurements are off I am confident he would do something to make it right...possibly even send you a replacement.
