Tuffy Security Console

Does anyone have it and is it as well made as they claim. I understand it can be bolted to the floor pan for extra security but wondered if it locks securely.
Thanks

The Tuffy is really well made, steel construction and the locking mechanism is extremely strong. I only used one bolt to secure the bottom, I didn't drill the body and frame. With one bottom and the side bolts, it would take a strong mofo to pull it out. It is worth the money to protect your iPod, Digital Camera, Registration, etc!:yup: Plus the cushion is better for your elbows! Here is a pic of the inside.

Most people, including myself, bolt the console to the steel plate shown here:

The lock is _very_ strong. I'm not sure this picture does it justice. :-)

I'll second that. It is MUCH better than the stock, and it does not seem to get as hot as the stock plastic did.

Just checked the replies. Thanks for the answers and pics.
I'll be ordering one asap.

I had heard that they were to come out with grey and khaki colors this summer. I want one badly before I get robbed, but I'm waiting for something other than black. It just seems to stand out too much saying, "Guess what's inside me?"

Tuffy

I have installed one in my JK. Very well built and its worth the money for the added peace of mind for your valuables.

Even if it does say "guess what's inside me?" It would take FAR more effort than it's worth for a thief to get at it. The stock plastic unit can be opened with a hard yank in 2 seconds. The Tuffy would take a metal cutter and some time. Thieves have much easier targets. They're not going to take the time. Walk around a parking lot and look at the number of cars with portable GPS, etc... that could be easily grabbed instead. You get the point.

What kind of bit do I need to drill through the plate under the console? My bit's aren't cutting it.
