what is the best locker?
 

so what is the best locker to get? I want one that is manualy engaged and disengaged (with a switch). I also want it to be one that will have the least problems.

the 2 I was thinking between would be the stock rubicon elockers or the ARB airlockers

I have an X dana 44 in the rear and will probobly end up having a rubicon dana 44 in the front.

the front axel will be coming with the elocker so could I just add the same type of elocker to the rear and use the wiring haness that is ment for rubicon axels?

what brand of locker does the rubicon come with? do they make one for the X's dana 44?

The Rubicon electric lockers are made by GKN. They will not fit into your non-rubicon Dana 44 housing. BTW- the rubi electric locker is (was?) an otion on certain non-rubi models. This locker will not fit a housing that currently has a standard differential.

ok so that rules out the rubicon lockers for now. as for after market lockers are any concidered better or worse?

Have you considered an LSD for the rear? If you replace the front D30 with a Rubi D44 locker take-off, that + a rear LSD will get you pretty much anyplace. And it'll be a helluva lot cheaper than going with a full locker in the rear.

Honestly, an ARB air locker in the rear and an Aussie up front would be a killer combo too.

Are you planning on doing super-intense rock crawling?

OX lockers all the way. very simple, very strong, can replace individual pieces if only one part breaks, no electrical stuff no air lines or pumps.

I am not planning on doing really hardcore stuff but do want the extra traction on demand. I am pretty big on overkill LOL. I think I might do a dynatrac front axel build up and put ARB lockers on front and back.

would anyone recomend something other than ARB for any reason?

should or can the front and back be wired to the same switch?

You ask for the Best locker but dont want a ARB? Well then in my opinion you will not be getting the best selectable locker.

ARB has the best warranty, Best customer service, Best Track record and the best product out of any of the selectable lockers.

There is a reason that Jeep wanted ARB's in the rubicon back in 04 .

not trying to avoid the ARB air locker. I just was not sure if that would be the best way to go. But it seems they are popular and from what you say it seems they are definatly a favorate.

I disagree. I have had nothing but problems with my ARBs. If you want a selectable locker go with the Eaton.

Really the best locker is a spool though. But you said you want selectable.

If you are having issues with ARB's it is been my experience that the install is usually the problem.

Of course I am not saying that ARB's are without problems but for the most part they are the most reliable.

What kind of issues have you been having?
