Police Officer who works 3 extra jobs in addition to my full time gig. I say why work 2 extra jobs when I can work 3! After developing a budget and living by it for 5 years now only debt is our house! Jus because you make $50K per year does not mean you have to spend $50K per year.

Like mentioned already, paying upfront even if you think it will take longer is best. Just put what you would towards credit card payments aside and you'll be able to afford things faster and for longer periods of time. If you can't afford to do that, you can't afford credit card debt!

That said, I have fabricated all my mods (not much on my 2009 but it was paid off within a year). I don't make much now, but put my wife through nursing school so she makes enough and my meager salary helps with three kids and two dogs. I worked clinical research for years and made okay salary and currently plan to return to school and finish my degree in medical physics. My 'friends' are mostly doctors and engineers and of those with Jeeps they have tons of disposable income it's sickening. They buy brand new BMWs, Landrovers and Harleys almost every year and then buy things like Jeeps and get $10k-$20k of upgrades just because (but never actually use them). Personally I'll stick with my lifestyle. I hope to increase my earning potential but find saving up for things and actually waiting to get them far more rewarding than instant gratification. A better income in my opinion is like already mentioned about living within your means, I hope to increase that ratio and invest/save more than I am now so I can retire and continue to do what I enjoy. I have been all over the salary spectrum and can testify to the happiness of frugal living. Do it and you won't regret it!

Sadly, many people who make 50k a year, spend 70k.
