Honestly I just like the look of wide tires. I had 35x15.5 on my 4runner. My offroading mainly consists of dirt roads, I try to avoid the mud because I am too lazy to clean up afterwards, however it seems I end up playing in it anyway. I would love to ride the dunes if we had any we could ride in Jersey.

Teej... did you ever get that bumper mounted and the lights wired up?

Maybe I'll just go with 13.5 wide.

I got the bumper on...didn't have time to get the lights wired yet...but, "Any Day Now"

Insane and ridiculous are both words I'm comfortable with. Thanks for digging up the pictures, it really helps me to firm up my ideas. I know the rock-crawling and mudding crowd need the extra clearance and taller tires to reach the bottom of the goo - that's not my main focus. Sand requires better floatation and wider tires just work better on heavily rutted beaches, by increasing the width to 15.5 I will increase floatation by 40-50%.

a 33 is going to look soooooo dumb lol

I loved the 35x15.5 Mickey Thompsons on my 4 runner. I am starting to think that the 33x15.5 might not look so good. I remember Mickey Thompson had a 31 x 17 wide tire... I thought it was absolutely rediculous... I definately don't want that look.

I had 33x 14.5 all terrains too, I liked them but I want something more aggressive and I think a M/T looks wider than an A/T in the same width.

I also like the look of a "deep dish" wheel. Obviously a wider tire will require a smaller backspacing giving me a deeper rim. I noticed that newer wheels aren't available in wide widths and pretty much have set backspacing. I was looking at the ProComp Series 7028.
