Default Wheel spacer? Is it ok for perfomance ?

I don't know why i don't like wheel spacer.. But i unconsciously thought wheel spacer is not good for performance...

So here is question. If i use good brand and set up correctly, is it ok for any on and off road performance?

Had wheel spacers on 2 different JK's for over 40k miles, on and off road with no issues at all.

Hub centric... Ok. Otherwise no. I've seen people lose wheels with the cheap spacers.

I have had Spidertrax1.5 spacers on my Jeep for about 62k miles on and off road and not had any problems.

I would not go with the cheap spacers. A top quality brand should be fine.

Been using my hub-centric 1.5" spacers for over a year now with absolutely no issues. Obviously, like everyone has already mentioned, stay away from the cheap crap. For $100-200 you get a better look, a better fit, and safety. Well worth the money IMO.

Eddie (WOL) Just posted a thread on wayalife.com about these. He said the spidertrax are just as safe as any wheel with proper backspacing. As long as they are installed correctly, they will last forever. He also did a write up on the install.

Honestly, the last 2 times I bought wheel spacers. Once for my old 07 jk and once for my old tacoma. Both shops tired to tell me they are not recommended, and are not as safe as wheels with proper backspacing to run bigger tires. Saying they wear out components easy and put stress on the vehicle. Then they showed me wheels. Just sounds like off road shops and companies want to tell you this stuff to try and get you to purchase the more expensive product to make an extra buck.

Eddie clearly states that they dont know what they're talking about...

So yes, if you purchase a good brand, they are ok for performance!

I've been running mine now for a while. First install use red loctite and don' t forget to re-torgue after required miles. Very happy with mine picked them up used from a fellow member for $100!

i currently use spidertrax and no difference with them on than off. Since i've heard people mentioning about how tire shops won't work on cars with spacers, I asked local discount tire and they told me that as long as the spacers are "bolt on" like spidertrax, they'll work on your wheel/tires. if you have spacers that utilize your OE studs, non "bolt on" spacer, they won't work on it due to liability issues.
