I just went through this with the mgr at my local discount tire as they were mounting my GY MT/R 35's on the rubi wheels I bought. I had already installed 1.5" spidertrax spacers and when he saw the spacers... he freaked on me.

He came into the waiting area and started talking about how 70% of the time spacers caused damage and/or crashes! ( I wanted to say, " so... 30% of the time they're ok then.. right? ) Anyway, he went on and on and said he couldn't work on my Jeep. After a back and forth, he said, it was their company policy to refuse work on vehicles that have spacers on them.

They were willing to mount my tires and all that. He just said, IF and when I want them rebalanced, etc, I'll have to remove them and bring them in.. and that they wouldn't do any kind of alignments or anything. I told him I was cool with that.

I just got my JK home from Screamin Lizard Customs tonight. They installed my ACOS lift, trackbars and did a 5.13 swap. I'm REALLY happy. I like the look of the 35's on the stk rubi wheels. I've not had spacers on that long obviously, but everything you've heard above is true with me. I recommend the Spidertrax bigtime. And despite that mgrs' fit, Discount Tire was otherwise awesome to deal with.

what is the largest spacer available?
The largest and most common that I've found, is 1.5 inches. There may be others available, but I didn't look around for anything larger than 1.5 inches.

I have a set of Spidertrax aluminum spacers waiting to go on. TeraFlex also makes wheel spacers and theirs are made from billet steel. These are the two that seem to be the most popular. If you need anymore info about TeraFlex wheel spacers, they are a sponsor here on the forum.

I have had my Spidertrax on now for 15K miles with no issues. I recheck the torque (slightly under the original torque so as not to break loose the thread locker) when I rotate the tires and swap my winter for summer tires (summer are stock Rubi's I bought as takeoffs) and never seen them loosen up or in any way indicate a failure. The rig handles great, drives straight with no shimmy or wobble.

I personally would buy spidertrax again in a heartbeat. Maybe the Teraflex also, but definitely the Spidertrax.
