Default Which wheels 18's or 17's with 35's

Im trying to decide from 18's and 17 I would rather go to 17's because of the cost of tires that i want. But the ? is the wheels i want have different backspacing and im trying to figure out if they aren't going to rub or stick out a mile?
Im running 35/12.50/ ??? Pro comp extreme a/t's

KMC XD XD797 GLOSS BLACK MACHINED

are the wheels im looking at and as followed:
17" x 8" Backside Spacing (in): 5.21
17" x 9"Backside Spacing (in): 5.47

18" x 8.5"Backside Spacing (in): 5.46
18" x 9"Backside Spacing (in): 5.47
Any help or suggestions is much appreciated!!

This is just my rule so take it with a grain of salt. For looks in my opinion I like to stick with a wheel no bigger than 1/2 the diameter of the tire so 17s max for 35s and for 18s I would use for 37s. Too big a wheel makes the side wall look too low profile for my taste.

Your taste may vary.

The lower the backspacing number, the further your wheels will stick out.
Whether you like that look or not should be a factor when choosing a new rim.

Also, I agree, with the above two posts.

the backspacing in any of those wheel look like it would rub with the tires you're looking at. I would suggest a minimum of 4.75" as far as 18s or 17s it depends on what you like (I have18s) they both work great on 35s

17s are cheaper than 18s most of time unless you find a really good deal. As far as how much sidewall you have, a stock rubi is very capable offroad and that has a 17" wheel with a 32" tire, so either combination you go with will give you more sidewall than that so you wont have a problem.

I don't think the backspacing on those wheels will work. Like robin said min. 4.75 backspacing. You might want to look at Moto Metal or Mamba for that style with the correct backspacing.

I would use the 17's. If you plan to wheel it, you will want more sidewall than tire. As far as looks go, the look of the 17's with more rubber is beefier.

Agree with those who posted above on the back spacing. If you try to go with that much back spacing you are probably going to end up having to get wheel spacers (which will run you another couple hundred) or use washers on your steering stops(which will sacrifice turning radius).
