Default Wider stance

When i buy new wheels, how can i get the tires to stick out a little bit wider? I am going to be running 35's, but also dont want to rub either. Is that possible with a 3-4" lift? Ive been looking at wheels and see all different sizes on backspacing and not sure what that means. Oh, and i already have spidertrax wheel spacers, but if i dont need them that would be good. Any help will be nice.

Using the spidertrax will help alot. I have 2.5" and no rubbing depends on tire too. Some guys run 35 on stock. The backspacing is the amount of rim that stick out behind where your rim and rotor meet. Try wikipedia I think? They actually will show a picture.

Think about the point of where the face of your wheel hub that mounts to your axle hub is positioned in the wheel.

Further towards the outside of the wheel is like a stock jk wheel and tends to have rubbing issues with larger tires.

When the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned more towards the inner part of the wheel that is better for larger tires....less back spacing. It can add more stress to your axles, so i wouldn't recommend say a wheel with 4.5 backs pacing and your ws.

My wheels have a 4.5" backspace, my tires are approx 10.5" wide and the tires extend past the flares by about 1.5".

I have 4.5 bs wit 12.5s and they stuck out about 1 3/4 inches with stock flares. Trimmed mine and now they about 2.5 inches out.

I have 17"x9" wheels with 3.5" backspace, and they stick out quite a bit. I haven't measure it, but the closest pic I have is actually of my slider. You can see that they definitely stick out (and they do) with the 35/12.50 Nitto Mud Grapplers.

I run 35" kevlar mt/r tires on my 17" Spyderlocks, which have 3.5" backspacing. The lower the backspacing, the farther the wheel will stick out. For example, the stock jeep wheels have somewhere around 6.5" of backspacing. So after my 3.5" lift and the Spidertrax spacers, I still had rub issues on the front lca's when the wheel was fully turned because the spacers only put my backspacing down to 5-5.25". On most aftermarket wheels, 4.5" seems to be the magic number. The Spyderlocks give you a little extra clearance with the 3.5" backspacing. Try your best to find wheels that don't need spacers, as its just one more component that puts stress on your axle assembly. Hope this helps.
