Will My New Tires Fit on The Stock Carrier

I am getting the 285/70/17 BFG KM2 Tires. Does anyone know if these will fit on the stock carrier. Any info you guys have would be great. I am supposed to get these installed on monday and I just thought about this now. Thanks in advance.

I have a 315/70/R17 tire on a stock 17" rim on my stock tire carrier right now. The dealer had a Jeep with the same size tire you have and it fit no problem. I just had to cut an inch off the rubber bumpers on the tailgate.

35" tire on spare tire carrier...

I guess I should have also noted I wanted to use the stock bumper as well. I am using 17x8 wheels with 4.25" backspacing.

YIKES!!! Aren't you worried about that big tire bouncing around that far away from the gate? Seems like the laws of leverage would make that put a lot of pressure against the tailgate.

Brigitta, you may want to consider the extended rubber bumps on the tailgate. That looks a little too far from them for comfort. Mine is a stock wheel, so it's really close to the tailgate but rests against the rubber bumps I cut down.

I just got my wheels and tires today and all looks good, BUT. I have the same problem they stick out away from the rubber bumper stops. Anyone know where to get some longer ones from THANKS

You will crack the tail gate over time.

yep - I ran a 34 for less than a year and I started hearing a very anoying tick/rattle sound. It didn't take 5 seconds of examining to see the problem. I had 3 broken welds. Within a couple weeks, 3 turned into 5. I put my stock donut on and returned to the dealer and thank God, they fixed it, but they good-willed it. Said they knew I was running a bigger spare and they would not cover again. I have a good friend who owns a Jeep build shop and he said if you wheel, that will happen - period. If you're a mall crawler, you're less likely, but be very careful shutting your gate and don't let it swing out to the hinge stops on a downhill.
