Question Winches?!

I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck. I just ordered a Rugged Ridge XHD front bumper with winch mount. What do you recommend I get for a winch? I don't have a ton of money to spend but i still want a reliable winch. I want to have my cake and eat it too. lol

I have the XHD and a Smittybilt XRC10. I have had it for over a year, now, used it plenty, had it underwater, and it works great.

Also, you can buy a lifetime warrenty from a site sponser (4WD) for an extra 50-60 bucks. Im sure user bustabizz would help you out !

Seeing as you have a 2-Door, an 8K winch would suffice your needs. That said, if you want to go inexpensive, you can look at Rugged Ridge 8K or Smittybilt XRC8, and even splurge a little and go with synthetic instead of wire. Depending on how much you're looking to spend, the Warn M8000 is a legendary winch that people have vouched lasts for a long time. I have a Superwinch LP10000 that I bought on Amazon for $450 with free shipping. Mile Marker has an 8K winch that would be fairly inexpensive as well. The choices are endless really - just depends on how much you are comfortable spending.

I was looking to spend no more that 600. Was really looking at the Rugged Ridge Winches. I just dont know enough to be confident with it. I was thinking the 8000 lb is 300 and the 10500 lb is 400 so i should just spring the extra 100 bucks and get the bigger winch just in case...

There was a post somewhere on pulling power. 8000 lbs means you'll need to be anchored to at LEAST one other rig, I think in the post even with an 8k winch it took 2 extra rigs just to not yank the winching jeep forward. If you think about it, 8k is alot. I bought the xrc8 from amazon. Brand new, $292 and free shipping. I was sold. Mounted in an Or-Fab bumper. Now I want red synthetic line.

If your budget is $600 or less, get the Warn M8000 from Northridge4x4. It's like $539 with free shipping and you'll have a great winch for a long time.
