1st Jeep
Well, I just put down the cash to buy an '08 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited after a lengthy decision process. I have to say that it was hard not to buy another Rover, but I was thoroughly impressed with this Jeep, and couldn't justify the price tag for a new Rover that just didn't seem as off-road worthy as the Rubicon. Now I am waiting for the Jeep to arrive, (he dealer says beginning of September), and came across this site while trying to get ideas on how I should modify the Jeep, and looks like a great forum so I had to join.
I debated and debated too and even bought a different vehicle, AWD. But the jeep won in the end bc the AWD just wasnt what I truly wanted. I love my JK and you will to. Congrats and hope it comes in early!!
It is pretty much a standard Rubicon, i.e. Dana 44 front and rear axles, front and rear lockers, 4.10 final drive, front disconnect sway bar, manual tranny, underbody protection, etc. I opted for both the hard and soft top. Oh, and it is flame red with slate grey interior and has the standard radio (I'm not used to music while I drive - might have something to do with the extremely loud Harley I ride pretty much as a daily driver). I do wish that it had leather seats, but that is not an option.
I will probably end up lifting it shortly and putting 35s or so on it along with some new bumpers. I may build them myself if I can't find anything that I like.

Nope it's an '08. I originally was going to get an '09, but there was an '08 still at the factory that was pretty much what I wanted, except that it didn't have power windows or locks, but they offered a nice discount if I took the '08, and I figured the power windows and locks weren't that important. After all, if I take the doors off, why do I need those features? That, and considering the number of window regulators I've replaced in the past after sinking the trucks in mud or water, perhaps manual is a better option.
