New to new Jeep's, I have a 48 that is in need of lots of money, so I got a 2 door 18, all stock so far, I'm ashamed to say it, but it's an automatic, I got what I could find.

Welcome. Nothing to be ashamed about an auto in my opinion. In fact, vast majority out there are autos, and many prefer an auto for control in wheelin situations. I'm on the west side of Fort Worth myself but get out to Gilmer to wheel a few times a year.

We go through the Gilmer area when we go up to Arkansas, I think Gilmer is about two hours or so away,

If you like off roading, BMRA outside of Gilmer is a decent park. Some easy trails through the trees for stock vehicles, and a decent selection of things for more modified vehicles that offer bypasses as well for less modified. If you ever get around the Hot Springs area in AR, that off road park is really nice as well with a lot of trails for non or lightly modified vehicles. It doesn't hurt that it's just a beautiful area in general.

Any trip to Arkansas is nice, I may have to check out the hot springs trail.
Gilmer maybe nice too, but the scenery farther north is nice
