Default Fist time really offroad!

Went to The Cliffs outside of Chicago on Sunday. New 2014 JKU sport s. Stock. I get it now!! While I stayed on the high side ie "safe" I could tell I needed more. She held her own when I got lost and into some hairy spots but it was more than I was ready for. I got a lot of "stupid newbie" looks from the regulars but overall everyone was pretty cool. My son never thought I was nervous so I faked it well. Still finding mud in spots I never thought of! Hesitant to go that big again without mods.

Welcome to the forum. I did the same with my 3 month old 13 except I busted a tire and tore up the cross member under the jeep.

Ouch! Really glad I came away unscathed! I think I am limiting my JKU to sun and snow! While is love to be a die hard off roader this is my daily driver and I don't want to screw it up.

Though I wouldn't consider myself a newbie.. I still enjoy going wheeling with folks like you :-) u guys are a reminder to why I like doing this. When I go out with some newbies it's cool to see their face light up when they clear a tough obstacle. Keep practicing and enjoy your jeeps.
