Hello from Georgia
Hello everyone. I'm a Veteran Marine who spent most of his time with 3/2 until transitioning to the SNCO Academy, both out of Camp Lejeune. When I left the Marine Corps, I entered law enforcement where I did everything from patrol, to patrol supervisor, to SWAT, to traffic enforcement, and finally Assistant Division Commander. I did that up until the point that I burned out. Now I run the family business which has been nice because I have not yet been shot at and I rarely get into arguments with people.
I had a 2021 JLUR that I really enjoyed but my wife and I enjoy taking long trips more. It was great at what it was designed for, but for us long road trips weren't the best experience. So, I got out of the Jeep. As life would have it, a few months later we got a motorhome and realized we wanted a Jeep to flat tow. We found a 2013 JK two-door 6-speed with 72k miles and jumped on it.
So, here I am looking to learn what I can about the JK as I replace or upgrade items on it. So far, I have replaced the original soft top with a Bestop Supertop NX in black twill. By the way, that was a pain in the ass to put on. A new radio and speakers are next, and then? I still have my JL Rubicon wheels, so those are going on in place of the stock JK wheels. After that I'm not sure.
Anyway, I look forward to getting back to the Jeep and participating in the forum.

Welcome and nice to hear you have found your niche. I would advise to simply use the Jeep offroading and see where it falls short for you and come back. I wouldn't start throwing money at it until after the evaluation period. You may find a small puck lift, good tires and a winch is all you need.

I can feel your pain. I lost a friend and coworker in law enforcement recently after she was shot in the line of duty.
