Default Hello from Georgia

Hello everyone. I'm a Veteran Marine who spent most of his time with 3/2 until transitioning to the SNCO Academy, both out of Camp Lejeune. When I left the Marine Corps, I entered law enforcement where I did everything from patrol, to patrol supervisor, to SWAT, to traffic enforcement, and finally Assistant Division Commander. I did that up until the point that I burned out. Now I run the family business which has been nice because I have not yet been shot at and I rarely get into arguments with people.

I had a 2021 JLUR that I really enjoyed but my wife and I enjoy taking long trips more. It was great at what it was designed for, but for us long road trips weren't the best experience. So, I got out of the Jeep. As life would have it, a few months later we got a motorhome and realized we wanted a Jeep to flat tow. We found a 2013 JK two-door 6-speed with 72k miles and jumped on it.

So, here I am looking to learn what I can about the JK as I replace or upgrade items on it. So far, I have replaced the original soft top with a Bestop Supertop NX in black twill. By the way, that was a pain in the ass to put on. A new radio and speakers are next, and then? I still have my JL Rubicon wheels, so those are going on in place of the stock JK wheels. After that I'm not sure.

Anyway, I look forward to getting back to the Jeep and participating in the forum.

Welcome and nice to hear you have found your niche. I would advise to simply use the Jeep offroading and see where it falls short for you and come back. I wouldn't start throwing money at it until after the evaluation period. You may find a small puck lift, good tires and a winch is all you need.

Very true. I don't know that I have a lot of big mods that I want to do, but there are several smaller tasks to complete. The rear seat is missing the headrests, for example, so I'll probably get those at some point. Things like that.

Welcome to JKF. I'd imagine that having been in a JLUR the JK is a step down in refinement, but it is a great platform IMO. As far as a toad goes, there's no better vehicle IMO.

The JL was a nice vehicle, but both my wife and I swear the JK rides better and rattles less.

Welcome to JKF! Glad you are here and thanks for your service. I lost a good friend of mine who was in 3/1 in Iraq in '04.

I can feel your pain. I lost a friend and coworker in law enforcement recently after she was shot in the line of duty.

I'm a big fan of the Warwoman and surrounding areas in Northeast Georgia.
