New to Forum/New Jeep Owner
Helo everyone. I just got my first Jeep. I have had a few Suzukis and some trucks and Broncos over the years but finaly got me Jeep. 2008 4door Rubi. This thing is fully stock. I have plans to make this an extreamly capable machine to run trails in Moab, Saint George, and Colorado but mostly I want to be able to run down the rocky roads of the mountains in Northen Utah 45 miles an hour without getting thrown around all over the place.
I am looking to get information and suggestions on the best suspensions and upgrades for this build. I would like to run 37" tires and figure i will need to regear for this. Plan to keep the DANA 40 axles and 3.8L motor. So far I put new rubicon wheel and tire takeoffs on it. I have DV8 frontand rear bumper about to go on. I want to change bumpers but might waight until i lift it so it doesnt look funny. Anyways nice to be on this forum and can't waight to here what you all suggest. Thanks https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jk-...7a5aff92c.jpeg |
Welcome to JKF.. Good plans for your ride and use.. Enjoy.. Don't see that the bumper would look funny before a lift either; "do what you wanta do"

Welcome! Yes with the 3.8 and 37's you should look at 5:13 gearing. I feel that it brings me back closer to the right RPM to have 5:13's in the pumpkins!

Welcome from GA! Look like you have a lot of plans.

If that is an auto, then you'd likely be looking more 5.38 gearing to push around 37s. If a manual, you could probably get by with 5.13. In all honesty, 35s will get about anything done, be easier on the gearing, and be cheaper in regard to flat out price and required suspension components (primarily needing a full set of rear control arms). Keep in mind the pinion gear teeth getting pretty small for a D44 when getting up to 5.38 gears. Welcome to JKF! |
