Welcome aboard. I think you'll find this particular forum pretty well rounded, a nice mix of people....more so than the others IMO.

New member looking for advice 😊

Hi! I’m also new to the forum and I’ve been trying to find some advice about re-gearing. I have an automatic 08 JK Unlimited X. I’m running 33’s at the moment and it’s not too too bad, however I’m looking into 35’s. I can tell it’s a little sluggish and I wasn’t sure how going to 35’s would change that. It’s my DD and I do a lot of Highway driving and VERY little off-road time. I’ve heard 5.13’s will work, but I’ve also heard the downside. I’m looking for the best MPG and just a comfortable ride. Is there anyone in the same boat or someonehttps://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jk-...4a3bf09da.jpeg
who could give me some recommendations?

If it's sluggish now, it's only going to be worse with 35s. Here are the gear charts for the 3.8L. You didn't mention if you have an auto or manual. Note that these charts use ACTUAL tire sizes, not what is stamped on the side. A 35 inflated to 30-32psi typically measure close to a 33, and a 33 close to 32 or below. Anyhow, you can look at the chart and reference where you'd be with different gear/tire combinations. 5.13s aren't near as aggressive with the 3.8L as they are with the 3.6L engine. I've not had the 3.8L, but with the 3.6L the sweet target is ~2700rpm at 70mph IMO. You will probably be making a decision between 4.88 and 5.13 for your application.

y, I see it now...LOL. I would mention that once you start modding....larger tires, regearing....you're chasing to regain fuel efficiency that will always allude you. You can definitely regain the power, the bigger tires will always eat in to the fuel efficiency. That definitely is a major downside.

I’m just looking for a better highway ride I guess. Majority of the roads around me range from 55-65 and for the most part I’m driving around the 70mph mark. I can tell that my Jeep is a little sluggish trying to get up there and when there’s any sort of incline, my Jeep is downshifting. I guess I’m just trying to find the best gear option that’ll run 35’s and still have a bit of power when I need it. I don’t off-road since she’s my pavement princess, but I live in PA with lots of mountains and just need the better option that could handle that 😊 I hope that all made sense hahah
