Moab Easter Jeep Safari 2014
can't believe we haven't started an EJS thread for this year yet. I know there was a good number of us who attended so starting this thread to get folks' pics posted. here's a quick recap from my crew of the madness of wheeling day and night that is EJS.
Sunday: Dustin jumps his jeep at the dunes (massive air!!), Gary H's lower rear control separates from the heim joint on Steel Bender night run. Get back to condo by 1:30am.
Monday: late start after repairing the control arms. Run Metal Masher, get back after dark.
Tuesday: run Kane Creek and James takes water in the engine; we clear the water out and able to get it started again, but his ZJ is effectively disabled. then run Cliff Hanger in the afternoon. Gary T blows up a hub on the last obstacle coming out of Cliff Hanger. easy repair that night
Wednesday: early start to hit "The Quintuple" - Poison Spider, Golden Spike, Where Eagles Dare, Rusty Nail, and Gold Bar Rim. Finish the day with a quick jump over to the Pickle. Epic 6 trails in one day. Dustin's rig got repaired from a rotated diff on the rear axle. Dustin did the night run on Fins n Things by moonlight only.
Thursday: Gary T goes to doctor for Bronchitis. Mike, Greg, James O and Brad join us for Moab Rim with James G in a side by side. on the Z-Turn obstacle, Mike breaks a driveline yoke. Finish Moab Rim and pop over to do Potato Salad Hill and Hell's Revenge
Friday: Helldorado in Area BFE with guide Melissa Fisher. Gatekeeper delivers the carnage with Greg busting a sector shaft. Gary H and Dustin continue on. Melissa blows up her engine on Breakover and we tow her out culminating with an EPIC three winch recovery up the Waterfall. it took us so long to get through the obstacles, Greg was able to repair his sector shaft and get to the top of Waterfall to be the 3rd and necessary winch to finish the job.
Saturday: the crews heads over to Strike Ravine which gets cut short because part of the trail is used by the buggy races at BFE. Most of the crew stays to watch the races. Gary H and Gary T head out and do Steel Bender for the first time during the day.
Sunday: pack up and head out; already start planning for next year.
