Default Canon 50mm f/1.4 EF USM telephoto lense

Does anyone on here have one or shot one before? Looking into buying this lense to take plentu portrait pictures of my daughter. I have read excellent reviews about the lense, just looking for more opinions on it.

Thanks in advance

Its a very nice lens. Super light and Sharp. I had this lens for awhile and loved it. I have since upgraded to the Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens. The f/1.4 is a great lens for the money. You won't be sorry you bought it and I bet it becomes your favorite lens.

I have it and use it regularly. In low light situations it is very fast. The pictures can be a little soft when at 1.4 and 1.8 but the shallow depth of field is great. Another option is to look into the macro lenses. I use a Tamron 90 MM macro and it did a great job at portraits.

I have it as well. Its good. If you want something a bit sharper wide open but not at the price of the F1.2 go with the sigma 1.4 for Canon Mount. It gets Rave Reviews. Costs about 100 more than the Canon counterpart and one of the few off brand lenses that beats the name brand at its own game. (arguably)

If you wanna go nuts track down a Canon F1.0L LOL they are out there.

I had this lens for a while. You can take very nice shots; ordinary snaps can take on a very artistic feel.

Just an update I bought a "Nifty Fifty" Canon 50mm 1.8 new for $120 last weekend from a local camera stire. Very sharp and great shallow depth of field. Awesome lenses for artistic approaches.
