Little Boy and Fat Man were the names of the bombs.

"What was the name of the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki?
Everyone knows the name of the B-29 bomber that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima - the Enola Gay - but how about the one that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki 3 days later? This B-29 was known as "Bock's Car", and Nagasaki was not its original target - the intended target city was Kokura, which escaped as the bomber was under orders to attack only a clear target and the city was shrouded in smog at the time. Nagasaki was the first alternative target city."

You guys need to go to the WWII museum in New Orleans, very moving
I think the D-day exhibit is up until October
My Granddad landed on June 6, and his division is covered very well
the pacific exhibit is a real eye opener, like the OP says, a different time

If you guys are interested in other WW2 candid's, I am lucky enough to have my Grandfathers scrap books and all papers, etc:

He photographed tons of stuff, mostly fun goofy things that have been lost to time. But, these are some of my favorites:

Those guys were the original hard core guys. Heck, I couldn't make it through my first one year tour in the Middle East in the late 80's without taking a leave at 6 months (and phoning home to loved ones when I could) to come home.

He split in early 42 and didn't come until until late 45 except for one short leave before embarking to Europe in 43 . Just V Mail and letters!

Yep......they were a different breed back then. When I read about what these old timers did up here in Alaska, all I can say is...."we are wimps these days."
