New Camera!

I'm really excited. Just went to Ritz last night and placed an order for the Sony A200 digital camera. This will be a big step from my current Kodak easy share 8 megapixel :yup:

It should be in by this weekend, ordered another lense also which was on sale. Gonna take a lot of pics this weekend. I'll be getting married the following weekend, so I hope to take plenty of pics of the honeymoon to share

Stepping up to a SLR from a point and shoot is a big difference. Make sure you use the camera and take as many pictures (and review them) before you leave on your honeymoon. In many settings on SLR's you can really mess up the pictures and you may not notice it on the camera itself, so get familiar with it. Also, if you have not already picked them up, get a UV filter, circular polarizer filter (make sure you get the right size for the lenses, many lenses have different sizes, so you may need to get 2 of each), lightweight tripod, extra batteries, a good bag to hold it all and depending on where you are going, you may also want to get a rain cover for it.

SLR camera's are a lot like Jeeps, once you get the bug, then they get real expensive.:bleh:

Really apprecaite the tips/heads up. We are encouraged to take the camera home for the weekend, take as many pics as we can and then come back to the store on Monday. The photographer (ritz associate) will then sit down with us and review the pictures, give us tips, etc. He will meet with us as many times as we'd like to stop in to help us get comfortable. The biggest change for me will be no longer able to look at the rear lcd display but looking through the sight.

To be honest, once you get hooked on using a real viewfinder, you won't miss the LCD view much. It's better form anyhow (for stability's sake) to keep your eye up to the viewfinder. However, if you really miss it a lot, the A300 has live view on the LCD for about $100 more.

!c

X2, the viewfinder is way better and you will find you'll have clearer and better composed pics.

It is more fun to see what you can do without using any viewfinder.

Welcome to SLR ownership!

Another tip: learn to shoot your camera fully manual. It will give you an appreciation for when your camera is making the wrong decisions. I'm always in fully manual or shutter priority mode.

SLR ownership is just like Jeep ownership in that you'll keep buying things for your camera. ;-) Just don't think you need that elusive 50mm f/1.0... it's not worth the money (speaking from experience) ;)

A new camera for you honeymoon.

And just what will you be taking pictures of... :rotflmao2:

Congrats on getting married first.

I miss my SLR the digital age has killed a large part of the photo arts and sciences. I guess there are plusses and minus's.

Looks like you are getting the hang of it quickly. SLR cameras are great but there is a learning curve. Since you have so little time to get comfortable with the new camera, may I suggest you take your old camera with you on your honeymoon too. If there is something very important to photograph take pictures with both cameras of the same subjects. That way you will be sure to have captured very important memories that will happen only once. You can always delete the pics you don't want. :photo: Best wishes to you and your new soul mate.
