Raw & hdr

This thread begs the question of using RAW images to produce HDR photos. I have seen mixed opinions on this. What do you guys think? Is it possible to use one RAW image to produce the multiple exposures necessary for a merge to HDR?

I think I may give that a try with my Olympus this weekend. How did you do the exposure bracketing from the RAW? Did you just develop the RAW image at different eV settings? I think my camera software allows me to do that. I know I can do it in CS4.

I'm with a few others on this thread. I have tried RAW for certain things like stopping a wave on the beach and then working it over in Lightroom. But typically I find that JPEG is more than serviceable and on a 12.6MPG format, large JPEG blows up just fine.

But doesn't the mpg not matter as much at 12+? Seems having a larger/better sensor becomes more valuable?
I shoot RAW+jpg saves raw to one memory card and jpg to the other.

I use a Nikon D7000 or my iphone. I'm recreational and just getting in to it. I appreciate all the info here.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.
