I haven't had any problems with mine.... except the one time that I didn't put it on properly.

OK - the follow-up: Just got back from the dealership, and they replaced the rear clip... "For warranty reasons" they had to physically clip it onto the Jeep. I asked them if they were going to bill Chrysler for 1 hour of labor or two.

Anyway, the part number for the new clip (which is a totally different shade of black and has different rigidity than the original clip) is 55395761AD.

Thats the same part# they replaced mine with over a month ago and felt OK for awhile but doesn't work at all now. Hopefully these are a newer make with the same part#.
Jeep 888 hows yours working so far?

Well, just got it about 2 hours ago, and so far, so good... I played around with it to make sure that it was better than the one that they replaced, and sure enough, it holds the rear windshield bar snugly and the clip itself doesn't wobble or move AT ALL.

Default Rear window retention brackets no good!

Ever since I picked up my JK in april, I've had an issue with one of my retention brackets..you know, the cheap plastic jobs that hold your rear window bar in place above the tailgate.

I finally couldn't take it anymore, so went into a dealership yesterday morning - hoping to just pick up a replacement set of brackets (they were the only dealership in the area that had them in stock). You know what they told me, rather than giving me the brackets, that I would have to put my Jeep in a body shop to get the area that the bracket clips to replaced/repaired...and that this was a common problem.

Common? I haven't heard anyone have this problem. Also, they could have at least given me the set of new brackets..they are only $7 a piece. I'm going back on Monday and if they won't give me the brackets, I'll just buy them.

To make matters worse, whatever they "did" now makes it even worse. At least before it would pop off after an hour or so..now I can't get the bracket to stay on at all!

I'm pissed because now I have to go without a Jeep for 1-2, maybe even 3 days while they repair the body. What a raw deal....

Nobody else's rear window popping off?

I called to talk to them about this again, and now I have to bring it in again because - of course - they forgot to mention they have to take pictures of this and get approval from DCX before they can authorize any body work.

Sometimes dealerships and automakers can be a pain in my ass.

I just wish this clip could have gotten worse AFTER my upcoming trip to colorado this weekend.

Don't know what to do...any suggestions on how to rig the back closed? I'm not really worried about it too much except it if rains in colorado, my stuff might get wet. I really don't want the hard top on for this trip..but dang it, I might have to.

One of my brackets pops off easily too, although not while driving yet. I think the driver's side. I thought it was just user error, but maybe it's actually a problem.
