Dash / interior clips - where to get spares?
I have a potential update on the dash bezel clips. I've repeatedly attempted to get the part number for the clips from stealerships without success. They keep singing the same old song, "Those are not separately serviced items." Whatever!
.
So today, I paid my friends down at 4 Wheel Parts a visit because they were nice enough to bring in a Rugged Ridge Dash Organizer for me to evaluate. While there I looked at the Daystar Upper Dash Panel that can be used to replace the OEM bezel. I decided to peruse the installation instructions and what do you know, right there in the instruction it says, "Using a flat head screw driver remove the 2 clips (Jeep p# 6505660AA).
So, after leaving, I called a local stealership and asked if I could buy 4 each of part number 6505660AA. He said he could get me 3 tomorrow at $0.45 each and the 4th would take about a week. Done. I'm gonna go by there tomorrow. I will post up the outcome here.
What's funny, is if you look at the instructions for the Daystar Dash Panel straight from the Daystar web site, the part number is 68002742AA. This part number is the one that I commented on in a previous post as looking too large.
Well see...

It will be more than somewhat ironic if it turns out the answer comes from an older version of an aftermarket products installation instructions.

You can also get them at most auto body supply stores may have to order them but they will be abel to get them. The dealerships dont do much body and interior work they farm it out its cheaper than haveing there people do it so they dont keep big amounts of that kind of thing on hand. The auto body supply stores have catalogs with nothing but fasteners in them I use to have a couple of them in my bathroom for reading material when I was restoring my Elcamino.

I just picked up 3 of the 4 6505660AA clips from my local stealership. Those are definitely the right parts
The above part number has a different plating, but the geometry is the same. See the attached side-by-side comparison pictures. Except for the plating, that's pretty much the same part.

So, JK'ers whenever your upper dash bezel clips break or fall off into the abyss behind your center dash, remember this information. FWIW, rather than removing the clips from your OEM bezel and relocating them to the Daystar (or whatever else comes into existence). Just go to your nearest stealership and order this part number for a bank breaking $0.45 each.
Peace-out!
