things I learned from Jkfest.

dont just put down moderate, stock, extreme etc.

theres alot of people with extreme rigs that have never seen the rocks or trails. Have some sort of wheeling 101. Show them how to disconnect, even if they have a rubicon, its not automatic yeah know!

Show them how to use lockers, they should no be engaged the whole time on the trail.
etc.

it would have helped us on the trails,

Ya I was spotting alot .. and had to get guys to unlock their rigs over and over. to get them through the obstacles. I have conducted a few seminars for offroader 101 with the eotb.ca showing the undercarriage etc and why to spot your diff's and tires on the big rocks etc. not a bad idea..

yep, stacking rocks helps get the diff up and over without any problems. I about shit when Art had a rock jammed between his trackbar and axle

a couple well placed rocks got the rig out of the spot.

and remind new wheelers, your jeep will use its skid plates, smacked diffs are normal... etc.

if we do a course on the property in the back woods we could do a mini poker run a timed run and off road 101.
if we had some light equipment we can a have great field course.

being that most of the core group now considers themselves experienced and the IDEA is to grow the activity of JEEPing we should focus on bringing in new people and bringing them up to speed about there Jeep and the capabilities once the driver knows.

I know that not every person needs a course, some are pro's but there are other things to teach. pros should be enthusiastic to help others

basic JK knowledge the owners manual and beyond. little tricks (head rest removal, large cup holder glove box removal fuse panel, a/c off for water crossing,
basic JK usage when to 4x4 what gear hi lo lock unlock sway bar manual and electronic disconnect
basic off road 101 ditches, off camber 3 wheeling, hill climb, different surface adaptation.
recovery simplified, strap, hi lift, winch, blocking/ manipulation of objects to overcome
treadlightly environmental impact reduction.
post trail JK inspection and basic maintenance check suspession brakeline bolts whats best for scratch removal
spotting a communication skill

1/2hr type courses pre set up scenarios 1 instructor 2 assistance and a class.... round robin style move from station to station.
basically group of JKers walk up - class starts and it is a mini scripted scenario commonly seen on trails that will allow people to see and learn.

saturday can be gathering and education day with games and recreation and on site trail
sunday the real deal trail run practical

basically taking info and surmising it to real life.

not hard to get stuck here in the spring...

I would like to see people learn how to winch properly and safetly.. snatch blocks, how, why , when etc.. that is something that alot of guys have is winches but have no idea how to use them

My two cents.

Yeah, I knew as soon as you said "holy shit, don't move", that something bad was happening. That's all I would have needed, to break something like that on a Sunday when nothing is open. Would have made for an interesting end to the weekend. I would have had to stay like Rod did. "Sorry boss, can't make to work, I wrecked my Jeep in PA, lol! By the way, I re-bent and re-sealed my rear diff cover and it's still leaking. Taken too many hits. I gotta get some HD ones.

Nope. LOL I still havent gotten around to replacing the steering stabilizer and it is seeping a bit. Pretzels have a way of doing that.

And oddly enough I hit my D30 the once and it is good to go also.
I am however getting some weird noises from my clutch. It has been doing that since I did the Squeak TSB. Now (and of course I cant replicate it) when I take off in first gear is makes like a rubbing noise. And also OF COURSE it isnt making that "rocks gridning around inside of it" noise it was doing in RC.
