Moving on to JK #2 after our 2010 motor spontaneously blew after 75,000 miles.
You would think we would have learned our lesson, however, given my wife’s dream car happens to be a JK, and I have an uncontrollable desire for playthings, we are now proud(ish) owners of a 2015 JK.
This guy is coming Sunday. We went out on a limb and ordered it from Carvanna (fingers crossed). As much as we try to deny it, we are Jeep people.
In the spirit of being Jeep owners, we are already working on making it ours. Wheels and tires ordered today. We went with 18" Fuel Vapor D560's wrapped in 275/70-18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

It is an E-rated tire, I did a lot of research and comparison before going with them. Compared to the AT/3s of the same size, they are 2 lbs heavier, compared to the Terras they are 3 lbs heavier, and only 1 lb heavier than the Toyo Open Country. I have ran all three tires on Jeeps, and two of the three on my F-250. I honestly can't tell a big difference.
I am running them at 40 psi. Compared to the Terra Grapplers, I believe the Ridge Grapplers may be a little more stiff, but probably unnoticeable unless you were really paying attention and knew what you were looking for. The ride is virtually the same. Compared to the Terras, the difference in road noise is negligible.
Overall, I ultimately chose the Ridge Grapplers because I got a KILLER deal on them (nearly $500 cheaper than other options) and they seem to be very well reviewed, which so far I agree with, plus ... DAMN they look mean!
There's been a lot of love for Ridge Grapplers in general. Not sure I've seen anyone say anything bad about them around here. 40 psi seems absurdly high to run those to me.
Love the color. Nice pick for rims and from what I hear the tires are great. I had Nitto Trails 295/70/18 and Terras 295/70/18 on my Jeep so far and now I have the Generals 275/70/18. Have the Teraflex Performance Leveling kit and a 1 1/4 body lift. Good luck you'll love the 3.6. I have 110k on my 2012.
Any particular reason you're running the tires at 40psi? You really should be in the mid 30's unless you're carrying a ton of weight. I thought the E sidewall wasn't noticeable either.....until I put stock take-offs back on the Jeep. The E is noticeable, it's just that you've become accustomed to it.
