a skinny 33" tire will fit, not much of an upgrade though.

I had 35s on the stock suspension for a few years. 37s don't work.

If you have the money go ahead and get a nice set of wheels and 35s. They will fit, might need to do some slight trimming of plastic but if you arnt wheeling then nothing to really worry about. But yes a 33 will fit but it will need to be a narrow one like Dirtman said.

255/80-17 are a true 33" tire and are a bit taller then a 34x10.5-17 KO2 just a bit skinnier. I was running the KO2 on my stock rims and just bought a set of 255/80-17 Falken AT3/w to run on the stock rims. They are priced very good on tirebuyer.com. They get great reviews and my buddy has been running them and likes them. They are surprisingly tall. They will give you approximately an inch more of ground clearance vs stock.

Yes actually, I was on the stock suspension but I had the fenders trimmed and I trimmed the Rubicon rails and the pinch seams. It's probably a different story bolting 35's right to a stock rig.
