Hello everyone I just joined the forums and I’m hoping someone can help me out with some info. I recently purchased the 3 inch adventurer series lift kit from Northern 4 x 4 and when I opened the boxes, I saw that the springs and the shocks were for a four-door JK after reaching out to Northern 4x4 customer care and TeraFlex customer care. I was told that I needed to have the 3 inch springs for a two door JK or my geometry and castor would give me issues. Terraflex said they will mail me the correct springs and when I receive them and I will then send back the four-door springs however when I inquired about the shocks, I was told that they are for four doors and two doors now, but when I look at the shocks bodies, the fronts are for a two four-door application and the rear are called out as four-door application right on the shock body, my friend who has the 2.1 falcon shocks for his two-door JK that he had just purchased recently and that I wrode in and liked the way they felt so that’s why I went with the tarraflex lift and shock say 2 door on them. I just would like to make sure before I install any of these parts that the rear shocks I have are gonna give me the same ride as my friend’s Jeep so far both customer care associates have been great and I would just really like clarification about the rear shocks thank you and appreciate any and all help. Also on a side note you would think they would have these issues figured out before launching a new lift series which is supposed to take the headache out of ordering a lift. Clearly marked 4 door rear Clearly marked for both a 4 door and 2 door.
That’s exactly what I was thinking after seeing the different part numbers but the terraflex rep is insistent that the shocks are all the same now which I’m having a hard time believing. Here’s a copy of what they replied back to me.
So what they are telling you is there are two shock settings: "2-door and 4-door", formally known as "Soft and Performance". Essentially, they are selling a two-mode shock that can only be used in one mode. I'd be all over Tereflex's a$$ on that one!
I had my cheapo Rancho RS9000XL shocks for 18 years now and they are still going strong! They have 9 adjustment positions and have allowed me to fine-tune the ride as I changed configurations over the years. Yeah, they look like crap (to me) but they function well. Don't know if Tereflex will take the shocks back for a partial refund on the kit - just spit-balling.
Yeah it seems pretty crazy and I’m thinking they are gas lighting me. Also the springs packaging have made in china on them which was surprising since I would of thought they would of tried to conceal that.
In my experience, I've only really run across one brand out there that seems to give much of a rip about "the little man", and it's certainly not Teraflex. Unless you are a big YouTube personality, i do feel like you run across stuff like this in that customer service doesn't give you much time of day. Considering what they are telling you already, I'd imagine you'd have a real battle on your hands getting them to exchange them when they are telling you that is just how they are now. If they were not adjustable at all I'd have a bigger issue, but you're likely fine putting them on the softest setting and moving on.
Yeah that’s what I’m figuring too, they will most likely be fine it’s just the point I guess. Getting the right parts was pretty much the whole point of going with a bigger brand that was supposed to be on top of it.
