Specific wheel/tire question, just need a yes/no...
Hey, I know its been asked 100k times before, but I have a specific question and just want to get the reassurance of a yes or no from those in the know. Will 285/70R17s on 17x8.5 Pintlers fit on a stock height X w/o any issues?
I searched and there were tons of similar threads, but I didn't see one w/ those specific wheels mentioned.
Thanks for the info.

Many people here run 285/70/17's on stock rims with minimal or no rubbing. With only 4.7 inches of backspacing you will be fine. I run 285/75/16's basicly the same size. My rims have 4.5" backspacing and I dont even get close to rubbing.
Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm a long time truck guy, and alot of times you run into rubbing on the fenders if you go with too small backspacing on a stock height truck. Didn't know how it went on the Jeeps.
So it's not a simple yes/no, but I'm tired and bored...

Q: What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my stock Jeep JK Wrangler?
A: The largest tire size that the factory recommends is a 255/75R17 (which comes standard on Rubicon models) or a 32x10.50. However, there are many Jeep JK Wrangler owners who are currently running as big as 285/70R17 or 33x10.50's with little to no rubbing issues.
This tire is what, .6" taller and 1" wider than stock rubi/sahara tires?
Stock BS is 6.25. Your rims have a 4.70 BS. 6.25 - 4.70 = 1.55?
So the new rims push the tires out another inch and a half.
The tires are 1 inch wider. That's 1/2" per side. (all this fuzzy logic math is giving me a headache...)
Anyway, rims push out 1.5 inches, new tire width pushes back in .5". So the insides of the new tires are about 1" further away from all the suspension components. Sounds good to me.

I'm running the same size wheels (bs) and tires as you....no lift, but I will rub the air dam when flexing a bit.

Doesn't really matter. I don't mind cutting a little plastic etc. I really don't want to lift much at all, but I could do a tiny like .75 daystar or something like that if necessary.
