Hi everyone,
Any news of that new elctric/diesel JK ? will it be a 2WD or 4WD ? what about a rubicon one to ?
With the tax we have here in europ, it could be a great news for us (just if it still have all the same capacity than the actual one !!)

To answer your questions I know as a fact it is strictly a 2wd vehicle only. At the moment it is being labeled a concept vehicle by Chrysler, and it has been tested; if they wanted to they could released it in 2010 -- doubt that will happen though because the 2010 models are already hitting the showroom floor with no EV in the picture.

It's also electric and gasoline -- no diesel engine for this one. On the plus side it can go 400 miles before it has to be refueled.

Will we ever this model? It's a toss up, hence why it's still dubbed a concept design although it has been tested and passed all of it's tests for production. I say we will not see it unless gas prices go up dramatically again [for the U.S.] or if Emissions and Environmentalists decide to push for stricter regulation against vehicle fuel consumption and/or emissions output; and I don't think either will happen any time soon.

Maybe if FIAT begins to show it's face a little more around Chrysler after buying the company out from hitting bankruptcy, FIAT may be able to put down the money to begin throwing the EV Jeep into production -- it won't be cheap though because of all the new components it will require; hence a probably other reason why we have not seen this vehicle on the streets yet.

thank you for your answer,
it is true it would be expensive, but i am still convinced that in the near future, we will see more of those type of hybride vehicule, here in europ, the taxation is higher every year and the gas price never stop to go up!
this wont stop me buying a CRD Wrangler, but i have to say that i like to keep my mind open when money is involve

For some odd, gut reason I feel like in my lifetime gasoline will be reserved more for military-esc and producer consumption, and electric/gasoline or electric altogether will be consumer only.

We will definitely see an electric Jeep soon; no doubt about it. I am just very confident that the Wrangler model will be the last or one of the last of any car and SUV model to go electric with the consumers because of its historic reputation: the need for gasoline to keep it off-road capable.
