Default Rough Country 2 1/2 " lift kit

After installing this lift kit which included new springs and shocks along JKS sway arm disconnects I feel a 'popping' or 'clunking' in the front end through the steering wheel. Any solutions? Yes steering was realigned after installation.

assume you checked spec on everything for torque.... not 100% but wouldn't a bad ball joint give off a "pop" feel?

Default Pop

I have the same pop clicking feel in my steering. Big thing is I do not have a lift. I have had my jeep at the dealer and they say they cannot find anything...

Tell those boneheads to replace the intermediate streering shaft and it will go away. There are also a couple threads about the grease in the boot mod that seems to cure it as well.

JKBully - Thanks for the info, I will ask my dealer to replace the intermediate steering shaft. My jeep did not have this symptom untill I installed the lift kit.

Depends on your dealer as to whether they will point at the lift as the cause.

But if you browse through the hundreds of posts in the threads concerning the dreaded steering clunk, you'll see that it is due to a bad shaft, not caused by a lift or any other mods.

Browse here when you have a few hours:

I plan on trying to get it fixed under warranty. I will let the forum know the outcome. Can we post miscreant dealer names here?

Have them check the intermediate steering shaft. I had same problem and mine would clunk and was wondering too they found the shaft was worn. Had it to the dealer 4 times and never found it but took to another dealer and found it in 3 min. common issue. Needs to have grease fitting on it.
