Rough Country vs. OME vs. Rubicon express
Ok here its is guys and gals. I've been researching my lift for the past 2 months. I've posted a couple of times and have gotten tons of great intel from people on this board. I belive I have narrowed it down to three lift purchases. I will break each one down. Please note the prices listed are Canadian and in some cases approximate but in theses cases I've allowed for extra so in the end I'll be saving.
What I'm looking for is advice, guidance, personal experiences with products. Thanks in advance.
For info my ride is a stock 2009 Rubicon unlimited 6 speed manual. I will be using stock wheels with 35x12.50r17 Wrangler MTR kevlar. No bumpers yet. Rear bumper/carrier very soon.
Lift #1
Rough Country 4" Series 2 lift $1149
includes:
-Coils and 2.2 shocks
-drop pitman arm
-rear sway bar links
-track bar brackets but read on. I plan to use adjustable track bars.
-all 8 control arms. The arms are fixed and not adjustable. (Am I right in assuming they would be engineered to a certain length that works well?)
Additional purchases for this lift:
-JKS front and rear adjustable track bars $175 each
-Track bar bracket reinforcement braces. I've allotted $150
-spidertrax wheel spacers $200
-JKS spring retainers $30
-Extended brake lines, front/rear $150
Total cost of lift #1 is $2,029 (which is appealing)
Lift #2
OME package with front/rear JKS track bars from Northridge4x4 $1149
Includes:
-HD coils and shocks
-Front/rear adjustable track bars
Additional purchases for this lift:
-8 Curie adjustable control arms $1049
-rear sway bar links $75
-extended bumpstops $75
-JKS spring retainers $75
-Extended brake lines, front/rear $150
-Track bar bracket reinforcement braces. I've allotted $150
-spidertrax wheel spacers $200
Total cost of lift #2 is $2,848
Lift #3
Rubicon Express 3.5" superflex
Includes:
-Coils (no shocks)
-Rear sway bar links
-extended bump stops
-brake lines
-front track bar
-all eight control arms (combination of adjustable and fixed)
-rear track bar bracket
Additional purchases for this lift:
-Track bar bracket reinforcement braces. I've allotted $150
-spidertrax wheel spacers $200
-Blistein or Rancho rs9000 shocks $124 each
Total cost of lift#3 is $2,912
In all honesty lift #1 is the way I'm leaning but the fixed arms are raising questions and I can't seem to find it but i read somewhere that at 4"s the manual trans may run into geometry issues with the rear drive shaft. ??
Sorry for being long winded but thats that. I appreciate any advice or direction you can offer. Thanks!

-For lift #2, start with the OME Long Travel kit and build from there.

-For lift #1
Yes, they are longer/shorter than stock to adjust caster to that specific lift height. The problem is that you can't adjust it for the added weight of armor/winch/mother-in-law. You'll get a much different caster/ride on a 2door with no added weight vs a 4door with full armor and winch. (some of their kits with fixed arms come with CAM Bolts also to let you adjust the caster. Do a search on them before you install so you know the pro's/con's)
The 2.2 shocks have an integrated bumpstop, but you may still want extended stops also. (I believe the integrated ones will help with over-compressing the coils, but will not keep your tires from rubbing the fenders.)
-For all 3, looks like you are going with both adjustable trackbars 'and' trackbar brackets. Why both?
-Have you considered new wheels instead of wheel spacers?

Yeah I figured I'd run into issues once I started adding weight.
In regards to the bump stops I've allotted for extended bump stops in my budget as I've read the integrated ones won't stop the tires from hitting the fenders.
I edited my post to correct the confusion about the track bar brackets. What I meant was that I plan to purchase and install the bracket reinforcements as I've read the welds tend to break on the stock brackets.
As for wheels. It will cost me about 500 more to go with wheels vs spacers. I was gonna get steel wheels but I like the look of the stock rubi rims. Steel wheels tend to cost more here in Canada. I don't know why but they average about $125 to 150

I went with lift 3 and R.E monotube shocks , old man emu log travel would be another great choice, alot cheaper, cost wise than the $124 each. I am very happy with my choice and would buy it again. I am running procomp wheels 17x9 with BFG Km2's 35x12.50
I appreciate your opinions everyone. I've done so much research into this and now I feel I'm at the point where I just need to make a decision...
Please keep the advice comin'. As I wrote above I'm leaning hard towards lift #1. All three lifts are comprised of basically the same components (not literally as far as name brands go) and lift one saves me minimum $800 bucks which can go towards my rubber. I neglected to mention that this is of course my primary ride but it sees the trails here in Prince George often.
Thanks again!

I have the RC 4"....however, i just went with the package with no arms, then ordered the Currie front lower & rear upper adjustable arms. So for essentially the same price, you get 4 less arms (which you really don't NEED) and adjustable ones where you need it for caster & pinion. I also went with the JKS adj trackbars. Lift-$600, arms & trackbars-$950= total of roughly $1600
I only have experience with the OME kit, but it has exceeded my expectations in the past year since install. Great on and off-road. Gained 3 1/8 inches AFTER settling. I have the Northridge kit (with JKS trackbars) + Currie endlinks and Spidertraxx spacers.
I have the OME kit, love it. Main reason I bought this over #1 are the adjustments I can make. look at it this way if you replace something (like a control arm, track bar ect..) to make an adjustment you want it to be adjustable, this gives you many options later to go bigger/smaller and dial things in.
BTW> You do not need all the control arms (unless you are replacing drive shafts ) get a set of fronts be it uppers/lowers, go with the adj track bars.
BUY the OME kit, INSTALL IT, WHEEL IT .. take pictures and post em.,....
