interested in a JK 4-unlimited
There's a dealer here locally with a 2008 Rubicon unlimited for sale. They're asking $35.995 for it as it only has 12k miles on it.
Also added to it are quite a few extras
Lift kit, AEV beadlock wheels, offroad jeep front bumper, Fab4 rear swing arm bumper, navigation, hardtop only (no soft top) and a rippin supercharger system.
thoughts? anything I should be looking for? they also have another 08 rubic with navi, soft/hard combo, lift kit with mickey baja's and the ARB rear bumper. i like both, although i think i like the first one more and it rides a little smoother on the roads, not that choppy MTR feeling....
my girls also gonna be buying a jk unlimited at the same time and she's looking at the 09 sahara with dual tops and nav.
any thoughts on buying a jk with supercharger or stuff done to it already???
thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum.
I'm always skeptical of buying modded vehicles from dealers since they are so incredibly marked up. I'd also be curious to know what type of lift is on it.
Because of the supercharger, the price doesn't seem that overly marked up(I've got more money in my jeep then what they are asking and I dont have a supercharger) but on the same token, the supercharger would make me worried. RIPP makes a good supercharger but by nature, it does put more stress on the engine which makes me wonder how the Jeep was treated for the first 12,000 miles. Depending on the lift, the price doesnt seem that bad...
I'd probably just put 5.13 gears for 35" or 37" tires and assume thats as fast as it would go.
once again, lift and tires?

Those BFGs look like 37's (specially from the view of the back) so it must have at least a 4" lift.
The sticker on that Rubinew was probably $33-34K and it has at least $7-10K worth of aftermarket parts depending on the lift. If the asking price is $36K you could probably get it for $32-33K in SoCal, but every area is different based on demand and availability of new vehicles.
IMO, if it the body and the mechanicals are clean, specially the S/C engine, drivetrain and the suspension (these are the key), it sounds like you found a potential great buy depending on how much you can negotiate the price. Given the investment in the wheels and tires, the hood and the S/C, the lift is probably legitimate too. Somebody did a nice job building that rig and it probably wasn't a dealer.
Best of luck.

5000 Supercharger
3000 wheels and tires
600 front bumper
1300 winch
1200 bumper tire carrier(not sure on this price)
750 hood
100 hi lift
100 battery
350 exhaust
250 on board air
I cant tell for sure what the lift is, but its a short arm to clear 37's so maybe a 4". This could be anywhere from 1000-2000 depending on how complete the kit. Assuming only 1000 for the kit, that build sheet is right around $13600 in parts alone without labor. I know there isnt much for labor, and most likely only the lift kit would have be done by someone else so maybe $14300 total(without tax or shipping costs). That seems like a hell of a deal on that Jeep if the drivetrain seems clean and well maintained. Also, one more thing to check would be for aftermarket driveshafts. You will need new driveshafts with that setup, definitely front, and most likely rear as well. So if it doesn't have them yet, and you plan to wheel, budget anywhere from 700-900 for a pair of shafts, and maybe a couple hundred more if you're having them installed somewhere.
I'd negotiate on that Jeep, its well built with a lot of nice features.
Very nice find and good luck

My thought on the matter is that buying a modified vehicle from a dealer is a scary thing. First off, modifications are a lost investment. The value of the vehicle doesn't increase just because of the modifications, in fact, it is usually worth less. That being said, if you hit the right market, you can get more for it than a stock one.
The question you have to ask yourself is, is it built right. The dealer didn't do it, its not financially feasible for them. So, who knows if they did it right, or what damage they did when they built it. Also, if they built it and put that much love and time and money into it, why did they sell it? Chances are, it has problems that you won't pick up on right away, or they drove it like they stole it and sold it before it got too beat up. I feel it is better to buy a modified vehilce from an individual rather than a dealer. Sure the individual will lie about it to sell it, but you can usually figure out about what.
Now, with that in mind, the truck in question actually sounds like a pretty good deal. If you really want it, buy it, but give a little thought to it and decide if these mods are what you would do to a stock JK and if you can live with them. If you do decide to pull the trigger, negotiate. You have a lot of room to negotiate. Every plus that you have on the modified vehicle comes with a downside, i.e. the supercharger provides more power, but it also shortens the life of the engine. Take it for a test drive and tell the dealer you were at a mechanic and he took a look at it and it is running an "unsafe" level of boost and you need to invest in a new pully to correct the situation, and who knows exactly how much wear is on the engine from the supercharger. This all goes back to the first point I made. A modified vehicle does not have intrinsically more value than a stock version, the extra value comes from hitting the right market. If you are interested, the dealer knows you are the right market, so point out the downfalls. It is highly unlikely that the dealer paid more than market value for a stock vehicle when he bought the modified one. Get him to go down in price.

A couple of things to think about. The loan value of the jeep is well below the asking price.....so IF you are going to finance expect a large down payment. (loan values are only based on factory model, factory options, and milage)
If you are not mechanically inclined have a trusted mechanic look at it to see if the aftermarket work was done correctly.
And third I am very surprised a dealer would have bought the jeep because resale of a heavy modded vehicle is to a very small population and a risk to the dealer. Maybe it is one of the dealer's employee's vehicle. Ask where and how the lot got their hands on it.
And fouth if every thing is kosher the price is not bad at all. I got mine for 25K and just what is in my sig was over 10K in parts. Mine is a rubi. you did not mention the model you were looking at. A rubi is 6K more list price.
