2" pucks with stock shocks, bad?
I have been saving up for a TF lift for way to long now (horrible at saving $). A buddy of mine had some 2" pucks that he replaced with 4" coils, so he gave them to me as a temporary lift until I buy a lift. All he had was the spacers and bumpstops, so I have been running this set up for about 3 months now with the OE shocks, no adapters. My question is, will it cause any problems wheeling with this set up until i get the lift i desire (which I will have in the next couple weeks). I have been off road with it a good bit, nothing to serious, but occasionally when the rear wheels hit a bump or sometimes even just dropping down off the curb pulling out of my driveway, i hear a noise that sounds like its coming from somewhere around my rear axle, sort of a knocking noise. I have inspected down there over and over and just cant find anything that looks like it would be knocking against anything else. So 1. is the pucks with stock shocks bad for my rigg (other than making it look like a mall crawler) and 2. any ideas what this noise may be coming from? any help or comments greatly appreciated.
oh and i know some of yall are probably thinkin i should have purchased a lift before bumpers or lights etc, but first of all i HATED the stock front bumper, stubbified it and still hated it, and the rear bumper folded like a pancake after a car tapped it so those HAD to go asap. just wanted to throw that out there
I got the Teraflex levelling kit for $130. 2" spacers front, 1" rears, and I love it. I still have my 255 tires (30"), so it gets my front up, and she finally drives like a Jeepster. Same shocks, same coils, but has longer swaybar connects in front. Great product, at least for me
Oh, and I get that metal on metal slap when I drive city streets, so when I hear other Jeeps doing it off-road, I don't let it bug me. It's not a MAJOR contact

Yeah, that sounds like it may be the shocks bottoming out like mkjeep said...if you really plan on upgrading to another lift with replacement shocks in the very near future then I would just tough it out until then...you may damage your existing shocks, but if you plan on replacing them soon then I wouldn't worry about it.
EDIT: When you are finally able to replace those shocks, you will see a big difference in your Jeep's ability to flex....I had the same issue when I had my 1.75" spacers in with my factory shocks a while back...once I swapped, it was a HUGE improvement.

couldnt take it anymore, change of plans. Bought some BDS shocks today and just got done installing them about 2 hrs ago and have done some testing and, MAJOR improvement. No more noise, ride has improved and flex, much mo' betta!! im just going to buy some coils to replace the spacers and build my own lift slowly but surely. Gonna run em hard this weekend and see what kind of offroad improvements we have made.
