AEV 3.5 vs Clayton 3.5 lift
Newbie here. Anyone have an opinion about whether the AEV premium 3.5 lift is as good/better than the Clayton 3.5 street performance lift? Also, I only want to run 33's, and my local jeep shop doesn't like teraflex, so the TF 2.5 is out. I know I don't want a 2" BB from anybody. Thanks!:
I have a 4 door Rubi. I was considering the Clayton Street Performance 2 door lift, which comes with uppers front and rear. My jeep shop says I shouldn't need a front drive shaft (I have an auto) with a 3.5 lift, that you only need a front DS over 4".
You may not need a drive shaft now, but 3.5 is really close to 4 and it is possible that you may eventually need one.
It does depend what you're looking for. The Clayton comes with all eight arms and a great warranty. The AEV gives a ride that allows your JK to handle as best described as "better than stock" both in handling and in comfort. Not too sure about the cam bolt thing though. I have control arms already and the OME just isn't cutting it for my drive so I'm going with the AEV kit.

Because the 2 Dr lift comes with rear upper control arms. And yeah, that's what I think too about the drive shaft.

Now, to answer your question... I am a little biased here, but I would strongly recommend going with the AEV kit. Don't get me wrong... Clayton made my top 4 when I was deciding between lifts and they make a great kit. I had it narrowed down between AEV, Currie, Teraflex, and Clayton. Obviously I chose AEV in the end and I'm glad I did.
EDIT: By the way... I never considered the Clayton "street performance" kit - just their full on complete 3.5" kit.

First of all... Teraflex makes GREAT stuff. Any shop that doesn't appreciate this (IMO) needs to re-evaluate their position!!! I would go as far as telling that shop "see ya later". Their 2.5" coil lift w/shocks is a wonderful kit for the money too!
