MBRP exhaust install question
I have a 2009 JK that I jsut purchased the MBRP cat back exhaust systems with the muffler in the stock location. Jeep only has 3000 miles on it so do I need to replace all of the pipe that came with the kit or just the mufller?
Might be the newer pipe is larger than stock, not sure though.

Thanks. I was planning on it just started looking around at some of the threads and started wondering. Off work tomorrow so plan on doing it then. With teh jeep being so new I don't foresee any problems. From what I read it doesnt take long. Hope I can at least stretch it out to where it is a 6 beer project!
Thanks for your reply

A lot of different suggestions on the board of how people have done this - lubricate with windex, use WD40, pry it off with a bar etc.
The one that worked for me was to use a sawzall and cut the retaining nipples off the OEM exhaust hangers so that it just slides off.
I'd recommend Sawzall first then beers ...
Ok i started the thread this morning. Got off work, got some beer and started the project. Took me 2 hours taking my time. Yes hardest thing was taking the old exhaust off and my crap was all brand new (only 3000 miles on jeep)
Here are my key points.
15mm socket to take off stock clamps.
Spray wd40 on the hangers.
Easiest way to remove from hanger is use a crow bar and they pop right out. On the back 2 just wedge the crow bar on the muffler for leverage and very easy...maybe 3 seconds.
Hardest one I had was on the front hanger so I gave up and pulled the exhaust loose first so it is hanging only by the hange then you can tug on it by hand and wedge it off.
Once all is off installation is a breeze.
For those of you that always say the emergency brake cable melts to your pipes all you have to do is bend the crazy little hanger that holds the cable attached to the bottom of the body of the jeep untill the cable no longer touches the pipe. (aint rocket science and I'm no mechanic)
Tighten everything up at the end and Wham! You got yourself a throaty sounding jeep that matches your lift and tires. Mama's minivan just went on steroids!

The exhaust is not as loud as I was expecting. On the highway you can barley hear it in the cabin. However, when you punch it you and the people around you know it isn't mom's minivan anymore
MBRP rocks.

I installed mine yesterday!
It couldn't have went any smoother. Like everyone else, the hardest part was the hanger removal from the old system. I just put a little bearing grease on the flanged ends and used a pry bar to pop them off. I haven't driven it very far but I like the sound and even thought I felt a little more power! The chrome tip is a little too much for my taste but I figure after a couple hours of hard wheeling it'll end up on the side of the trail somewhere anyway.
