Default Can I use Yukon Dana 30 Carrier with OEM 4.10 gears?

I just bought a set of OEM Dana 30/44 4.10's (thanks BackinBlack) ....

Since i have factory 3.21:1 gears I need a new carrier/case in the front... can I just use a Yukon Dana 30 3.73+ Carrier for the front or will I have to use a Mopar Carrier? Are they the same?

I see no reference anywhere that Yukon makes a "special" Dana 30 Carrier for the JK.

Good question.

I saw a post a while back from David at Northridge saying he has the carriers, so you might send him a message to double check what he knows.

Carrier pigeon is old school, but you could call him. I called him while he was on vacation and he answered.

I wouldn't think there is any difference. The jk d-30 diff lys in the ring and pinion. He shoulde answer his phone tomorrow though, he'll answer your questions right then and there. Not too many people left like that in business that'll talk to you when they're closed. That's why I run a Northridge windshield banner on my windshield. Now I gotta figure out a place for some more Teraflex stickers too cause Joe at TF is head and shoulders above and beyond too.

Well further research shows that the OEM 3.21 Spider Gears will not work in the aftermarket Carrier ... so an entire loaded Dana 30 carrier will be required ...

It's all very confusing .... Jeep does list two Dana 30 Carriers in 2007 ... 1 for 3.21 and 1 for 4.10 ... However ... the Spider Gears are the same ... ???

Guess I'll leave it up to the install shop to figure out. They said they have done JK's before ...

just a suggestion because your in the same boat as I was...if you plan on buying a complete carrier, why not spend a couple more bucks and upgrade? If a full on locker is not your style, or in your price range...you could do what I did and put a Detroit Truetrac in for added traction....

The complete OEM carrier with internals is only $135 from one of he Mopar Wholesale websites ..... A Truetrac is 4X that ....

FYI ... I talked to Dave at NorthRidge ... a new LOADED carrier is required .. Mopar Side gears will not work in a Yukon Carrier .... I had already bought a Yukon Carrier ... so I just order the side gear set ... Ended up costing me $57 shipped for the empty Carrier and $89 Shipped for the spider gear set ...

SPIDER / SIDE GEAR KIT DANA 30 Yukon Part: YPKD30-S-27
Dana 30 3.73 & Up Carrier Yukon part: DS 706008
