Default water and synthetic winch line?

Does water damage synthetic line? If so, how do you all keep it dry?

Water? Sorry, had to say it. With a little bit of dish washing liquid should do the trick.

I put a cover on my winch to keep the sunlight and the road salt (winter is coming) off the synthetic rope.

stupid question is the synthetic rope basically a plated kevlar line. i have used it in the maritime industry and it is awesome. I just didn't know what the line itself is made of.
