Default Another gear ratio question

Another newbie to the forum. I have 09 X 4 Door with 6 speed and 3:21. I live on Long Isand and the terrain is mostly flat. I will be doing primarily beach driving. I will probably be going with 33" tires in the near future with either a 2" OME or 2" TF budget boost. My gearing questions are as follows:

will 4:88 be enough gear or should I go 5:13. (It is my daily driver on the LIE).

While I am doing gears I know i need to change the front carrier. Any suggestions. (Do they make a LSD for front Dana 30 or do I have to go full locker)

What is the best avenue to go in the rear as far as locker or good LSD. I do not do any crazy wheeling at this time.

One last question not relating to gears. I am in the market for wheels. I really like the simple look of the Soft 8 steel wheels. I will probably go 17". Is there a problem with them not being "hub centric" like most of the aluminum wheels. And will the steel soft 8 be too heavy compared to aluminum.

Sorry for all the questions. Like I said. Newbie and excited.

The FAQ's pasted up top are a great place to browse when you get some time.

Do you plan on going up to 35's at some point? Most people with manuals and 35's seem to like 4.88 gears. 5.13's are great for 35's with an auto. With 33's, either of those ratios may be a bit too much gear, with 4.56's or even factory 4.10's being a better option.

Check the rpm chart in the driveline faq to get an idea of where you'll be, or read through any of the 1000's of gearing threads for more opinions.

Just out of curiosity, why would you need to change the carrier? I'm planning to do 5.13 gears myself, but I didn't realize that a new front carrier is also required... can anyone explain this to me?

Sorry, I'm a newbie here too...

Local JK'er, Holbrook here.

If you're not going past 33's, 4.88s are fine. IMO, if you're interested in wheeling more than the beach, get a full locker up front, whether selectable or not. In the rear, IMO, go with a full Detroit locker. Or, if you're iffy about having it locked in that sense, go selectable.

You won't have a problem with the wheels. PLENTY of us are running on Soft-8s, or Cragars for that matter without an issue.

Visit http://www.liorclub.org/ and come by our monthly meeting tonight in Lake Grove at 7PM at Uncle Joe's Pizzeria on Middle Country/Hawkins Ave. Then you'll want to come wheeling with us in the surounding states. You will get bored of beaches.
